Summer appeal for Swindon Women’s Refuge

One of the fun jobs in the summer holidays is buying new stationery for the start of the new school year. This year, could you also buy some extra to donate to children living at Swindon Women’s refuge? Bring pens, pencils, pencil cases etc along to St Andrew’s by 11thAugust so we can deliver it to the refuge in plenty of time for the new term.

Two opportunities to pray

Friday 5th July 7pm – Saturday 6th July 7pm
24 hours of Prayer at St Mary’s Rodbourne Cheney. Drop in anytime within the 24 hours of prayer to support this time of prayer for Swindon and the wider world.

Saturday 20th July 9.15am-1.30pm
Prayer day for The Deanery CE Academy.  All welcome to pray for the new secondary school opening in Wichelstowe this September, at the academy. Lunch provided, so please book in advance.

Care for the Family ‘Free to be’ event for Christian women at Steam, 15th October, 7pm

This event will explore how we can see ourselves from God’s perspective and get a clearer vision for what God had in mind when He uniquely created ‘me’. Free to Be is an event for all Christian women to come together, whatever circumstance or season of life you are in. Tickets are £4 before 31st July. Contact Sally if you’d like to go.

Please pray for all pupils and teachers coming to the end of the school year, especially the first Year 6 leavers from Tadpole Farm. Pray for happy and healthy summer holidays, especially for those currently in the care of Swindon Women’s Aid.

An oasis of calm on Saturday morning

From the bustle of the Orbital Centre to the buzz of Tadpole Garden Village, somewhere to reflect and enjoy a spot of peace in North Swindon may seem hard to imagine, but St Andrew’s Church, tucked away in a green oasis off Tadpole Lane, is a secret surprise.

This lovely ancient church, with parts dating back 900 years is open from 10am to 1pm on 6 July, 3 August, 7 September and 5 October. Visitors are welcome to look around the building, including the beautiful 1940s stained glass by Douglas Strachan, to have a cup of tea or coffee, or just to enjoy the tranquillity.
