Join us in singing a hymn for Pentecost

We've a new song to sing. It would be great if as many as possible could take part. Don't worry if you don't think you're a great singer - it'll all be put together as if we were singing in church.

For the Pentecost service on 31 May we would like to record Love Divine, All Loves Excelling. Click here to see the words and sheet music - note we are using the first tune (Blaenwern). You can also hear a recording to sing along to. If you need to learn a part (alto/tenor/bass) let me know on brian@brianclegg.net and I'll send an accompaniment over.

Please send in your recording by Saturday morning 30 May, so we can put it together for the service. If you have any questions, please email me - brian@brianclegg.net.

The music should play directly from the internet by clicking on the relevant file - if it doesn't, you can download the files using the download control at the top of the screen.

How to record

  1. Sing along a couple of times to the accompaniment, until you feel comfortable with it.
  2. Use headphones or earbuds to hear the accompaniment while you record (you will have to play the accompaniment on a separate device to the one you are recording on) - otherwise the accompaniment will record too loud in the background
  3. Record yourself singing
    • If you have an iPhone, run the Voice Memos app
      • Record by pressing the round red button (the microphone is at the bottom of the phone)
      • Stop the recording by pressing the square red button
      • Re-record if you went wrong
      • Send it to us - the easiest way is to select the three dots ... button next to the piece you've recorded, then Share, choose your email (Mail) and email it to brian@brianclegg.net
    • If you have an Android phone, run your voice recorder app (if you don’t have one pre-installed you can download one in the Play store)
      • Record by pressing the round red button (the microphone is at the bottom of the phone)
      • Stop the recording by pressing the square grey/black button
      • Re-record if you went wrong
      • Send it to us - the easiest way is to select the three dots ... button at the top of the screen then Share, choose your email and email it to brian@brianclegg.net
    • If you can't email from your phone, you can use the same Share method to get the recording into Facebook Messenger or another communications app and send it to yourself, then pick it up on a computer.
